The Abbey Road is an EP by Red Hot Chili Peppers, released in 1988. Out of these five tracs, four had already been released on the band’s studio albums. The only new track is a cover of the song Fire by Jimi Hendrix, and that was the last song recorded by the original Red Hot Chili Peppers line-up (before the tragic death of Hillel Slovk due to a heroin overdose). This song will be included once again in the band’s next studio album Mother’s Milk – featuring a new and a current line-up (guitarist – John Frusciante, drumer – Chad Smith).
The cover was done as a tribute to The Beatles and their famous album Abbey Road; Like The Beatles, four band members are walking across a zebra, the difference being that they are completely naked, wearing nothing but socks (which was how they regularly performed on stage back at the time).
